ABB Optical Group’s Senior Vice President of Strategy Named One of Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical
Erika Jurrens honored under the Executive Suite category
Coral Springs, Fla. (August 10, 2020) – ABB Optical Group (ABB) announced today that Erika Jurrens, the company’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Commercialization, has been named one of Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical for 2020.
Jurrens, who joined ABB’s executive leadership team in late 2018, has been recognized as an influencer in the Executive Suite category, which honors women that guide their companies forward, inspire leadership among their teams and peers and achieve high performance.
Now in its 18th year, Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical is eagerly awaited by the publication’s readers and those within the optical industry. This year 50 women were selected for recognition by the editors of Vision Monday. The honorees are always a diverse group consisting of executives, sales and marketing professionals, eye care professionals, administrators, researchers and teachers.
“In order to truly support the eye care professional, it is critical that we find ways to help our customers improve office efficiency, reduce costs and increase revenue. This ordering capability is a game-changer for telemedicine in the optometric space and sets EyecareLive and ABB’s relationship apart from all others in the market,” said ABB’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Commercialization Erika Jurrens. “The enhancement focuses on making the ordering process for patients and practices simple, quick and convenient for everyone.”
“It’s an honor to get to represent the many men and women at ABB, my teammates, who support our customers every day. The real award comes in knowing my team thought enough to nominate me and the Vision Monday team sees the impact they make on this industry. This is a reflection of our collective efforts and the care we have for our customers,” said Jurrens upon hearing of her win.
A champion of patients, healthcare providers and the companies who serve them, Jurrens has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining ABB, she served as Vice President of Product Development and Marketing at Cardinal Health, a Fortune 15 company, and spent eight years at GlaxoSmithKline in various marketing, sales, development and brand strategy roles. In her role at ABB, she oversees strategy and execution of products, services and solutions with a focus on how each area of the business benefits eye care professionals and enhances the entire patient experience.
Jurrens studied Executive Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s The Wharton School, received her MBA from St. Ambrose University, has a Lean and Black Belt in SixSigma from Villanova, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College. She has served on numerous boards including the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and the President’s Advisory Council at St. Ambrose University. In 2014, Jurrens received the Healthcare Businesswomen Association's Rising Star of the Year Award, and was recognized as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Mentors of the Year in 2015.
When asked to describe her personal philosophy, Jurrens stated, “Take accountability for everything you do. One of my earliest mentors used to say: When you hear yourself saying, ‘someone should do something about that’… that someone is you.”
